Founded in 1991, Custom Design Benefits is the area’s largest independent, full-service Third Party Administrator of self-funded health benefit plans. Julie D. Mueller
President & CEO
Serving in the healthcare field throughout her career, Julie D. Mueller joined Custom Design Benefits in 2003, after 20 years as senior executive for a national TPA. As President and CEO, Julie leads a dynamic service-oriented organization, ready to administer your custom, self-funded benefits plans and consumer driven accounts.
Vice President, Compliance & Account Management
Backed by 25 years in the benefits industry, Amanda Guinan joined CDB in 2009. Amanda develops innovative cost containment products and services and manages CDB’s complete compliance services. Her Account Management team ensures new customers are onboarded seamlessly with continued support after implementation.
Vice President, Medical & Risk Management
In 2017, Terri Martin joined the organization to lead the Medical & Risk Management group. Leveraging her extensive experience in medical management and data analytics, Terri and her team monitor utilization to reduce cost and improve health outcomes for CDB clients.
Vice President, Operations & Quality Assurance
Nancy Hill, a proven quality assurance and training profession, joined CDB in 2009. Nancy and her team provide personalized, professional customer service, claims processing and enrollment. Through Nancy’s focused approach, CDB continues to exceed industry standards for claims accuracy and customer service.

On Thursday, June 20th, CDB celebrated National Recess Day at Work. During lunch, employees came out for recess and enjoyed hula hoops, hopscotch, 4 square, bubbles, and more.
The team celebrated the Kentucky Derby while raising funds for Alzheimer's Association by having their own Derby Day hat competition!
On April 9, CDB attended the annual Welcome House of Northern Kentucky Household Shower. CDB staff donated new household items to help the Welcome House of Northern Kentucky families transition from homeless to home. Nearly 200 people attended the shower. The mission of Welcome House of Northern Kentucky is "to provide a continuum of services that will end homelessness and promote stability for each person we serve."
Custom Design Benefits raised $13,545 for the American Heart Association! 71 employees, family members and friends registered for the 2019 Heart Mini-Marathon and Walk in Cincinnati, and many more donated online. Thank you to everyone who helped us surpass our fundraising goals; your donations make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone.
